SOUTH HALSTED RD EXPECTED TO CLOSE AT MAPLE RD IN WEST BLOOMFIELD TWP

ON JUNE 11 FOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

Beverly Hills, MI—The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close the south half of the Halsted Road intersection at Maple Road in West Bloomfield Township on June 11 for intersection improvement work that is part of the ongoing Maple Road project between Drake to Halsted roads.

Separate detours have been set up for traffic that utilizes northbound and southbound Halsted Road south of Maple Road.

  • The detour for southbound Halsted Road traffic is eastbound Maple Road to southbound Drake Road to southbound Haggerty Road to westbound 14 Mile Road, back to Halsted Road.
  • The detour for northbound Halsted Road is westbound 14 Mile Road to northbound Haggerty Road to eastbound Maple Road, back to Halsted Road. 

The closure is expected to last approximately 14 days and should reopen late-June.

The Maple Road project between Drake and Halsted roads involves major resurfacing, widening to three lanes and drainage improvements.

Project News:
 
Construction is set to begin on or about April 9, 2018.  The RCOC will be widening and resurfacing Maple Road. Dans Excavating has been awarded the contract.

Project News
The project was substantially completed in 2017.  In the spring of 2018, the contractor will complete some items left on the project punch list.

West Bloomfield Township with the design service team of Land Wise Design and Nowak and Fraus have begun design on the Orchard Lake Boulevard Streetscape.  The design is to include landscaping, gateway monument signs, irrigation, public art and seasonal banners. More to come as the design progresses.

Orchard Lake Ribbon cuttingOn December 14,2017 a ribbon cutting was held for the opening of the new Orchard Lake Boulevard.  Coming in the spring of 2018 will be a West Bloomfield Township Streetscape project to finish addressing the new median.
